Happy 90th Birthday to Alpine Shop's owner, Russell Hollenbeck, this December! If there has ever been a walking advertisement for living the "Life Outside", the man know as "Holly" could be it.

Still going strong today, Holly purchased Alpine Shop in 1978 and has been in charge ever since.

A native of the Pacific Northwest and a graduate of Yale University, Holly considered himself to be a refugee of the corporate world when he decided (while on a skiing trip with his family) to purchase "Mooers Alpine" in Webster Groves in the St. Louis metro area. He immediately changed the name to Alpine Shop and built it over the years, with the help of co-owner and second wife, Lisa Hollenbeck, into the area's most award winning outdoor recreation shop.

You can still find Holly in the Kirkwood store during most weeks.
