Cyclists Take on 200+ Miles of Gravel Through Missouri Wine Country at This Weekend’s Tour of Hermann Gravel Challenge

HERMANN, Mo. — May 2, 2025 — More than 150 cyclists will converge on the historic town of Hermann, Missouri, this weekend for one of the Midwest’s most scenic and demanding gravel races — the 12th Annual Tour of Hermann Gravel Challenge, taking place Saturday and Sunday, May 3–4. Riders will depart each morning at 8:00 a.m. from Hermann City Park (118 13th Street, Hermann, MO 65041).

This two-day event offers up to five punishing-yet-beautiful gravel loops covering more than 200 miles and over 11,700 feet of elevation gain. Cyclists will wind through Missouri’s breathtaking wine country and alongside the majestic Missouri River, testing both endurance and strategy.

What sets this event apart is its “choose-your-own-adventure” format: participants can ride as few or as many loops as they wish, making the challenge accessible to first-time gravel riders while still attracting elite athletes chasing a spot in the Tour of Hermann Gravel Challenge Elite Club—awarded only to those who complete all five loops within the allotted time.

Media Visual Opportunity

TV crews and photographers are strongly encouraged to attend. The Tour of Hermann offers prime coverage potential:

  • Sweeping drone-friendly vistas of river valleys and vineyards
  • Dynamic race action, including steep climbs, rugged descents and multiple creek crossings (depending on water levels)
  • Rider roll-outs each morning at 8 a.m. from Hermann City Park

Event Highlights

Saturday, May 3

  • Three loops
  • 102.36 miles
  • 6,883 feet of climbing

Sunday, May 4

  • Two loops
  • 99.14 miles
