I use my SPD pedals on multiple bikes because I like them so much. They provide a stable platform that is easy to get in and out of. They do a great job of shedding mud and offer a great design that is well-tested by time.

Now that I've done both SPD and SPD SL, they both have their pros and cons. Some people will say this is the easier pedal to handle, easier both to get into and get out of. From my personal history in them, I found them effortless to clip into, there was almost never a slip up compared to my SLs which tend to miss a few times. But clipping out of these pedals were a bit more testy, it wasn't a 100% guarantee. I do find my SLs easier to get out of. But these can be rode rough without any worry of damage. I rode this at least a year before switching and they're still holding strong. Luckily you can set the tension setting high or low on them, but just the mechanics of it, it's meant to hold on firm, so you won't be sliding anywhere. It's a good pedal, good starting price, I used them on my first road bike.
