  • Forever ends the debate about whether you can afford the extra weight of a pack cover - the medium size weighs only 4 ounces and packs into a tiny stuff sack
  • Features:
  • Made of 30D Diamond Ripstop silicone impregnated Cordura®, so its waterproof finish cant peel or wear off over time
  • Siliconized Cordura® is about one third the weight of traditional coated nylon
  • This pack cover uses a no seam construction for complete waterproofness
  • Has a mid-back keeper strap that helps secure it to the pack and keep the sides from catching wind (except size XS)
  • Comes packaged in its own mini siliconized nylon stuff sack that remains attached to the cover so it cant get lost
  • Comes in four sizes to fit daypacks up to large backpacks
  • Assorted Colors: Gold, Grey, Green, Red and Blue
  • Pack Size: 70-95 liter / 4300-5800 cu in
  • Weight: 4.6 oz

Ultralight vs. Durability and Fit

I've been researching my pack cover options for my new 65+10L pack. I pulled out the Osprey Ultralight Rain Cover, Sea to Summit UltraSil Pack Cover and Sea to Summit 70D Nylon Pack Cover. I'm the type that likes to pack some extra large Nalgene water bottles on the sides of my pack, so I quickly realized I would need the largest sizes possible. I also noticed that the seamless UltraSil is not fitted like the Osprey and Nylon pack covers, which actually made it harder to fit around extra gear packed on the outside. Overall, while the UltraSil and Osprey are about half the weight of the Nylon cover, I think I would value the durability of the 70D Nylon over the 3oz of weight I would save.

So even if you don't get this pack cover, you should pick one up or make sure your backpack has one. When you hike in the rain without one, your pack and belongings get saturated and, let's be honest, we are all way too lazy to carry more than we have to. So what sets this backpack rain coat apart from all the rest is that is is so freaking small! when you pack it down into its stuff sack it seams like it just disappears! Even though it is so small and light, the CORDURA fabric is supper strong and will last for years if you take care of it. Over all awesome super light pack cover!
