  • Theres hot and humid rain, frigid freezing drizzle and myriad forms of deluge in betweenwhile experts agree that differences exist, at its heart, wet still remains wet. Stay dry in Patagonias Stretch Rainshadow Jacket: it offers lightweight, packable, streamlined protection for a full range of motion in a full range of conditions. The waterproof/breathable, 2.5-layer stretch nylon H2No® Performance Standard shell has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish; the helmet-compatible hood has a laminated visor and a single-pull adjustment (it also rolls down and stows); and the watertight center-front zip and venting pit zips are DWR-coated. The single exterior left-chest pocket and two handwarmer pockets all close with watertight zips, minimal hook-and-loop closures seal the wrists, and a dual-adjust drawcord cinches the hem. The jacket self-stuffs into the chest pocket, with carabiner clip-in loop.

I'm not usually pretty skeptical of things that say they're stretch. Being a 33 waist and 49 across the chest and shoulders, I find Large sizes being tight in the shoulders but fitting everywhere else often. Extra larges do better in the shoulders, but it feels like Im wearing a sheet otherwise. Patagonia got it right with this jacket in the ways of stretch and overall fit. Doing anything above my head or in front of me riding my bike in the rain I felt no binding and my arms moved like I wasn't wearing a jacket at all. Other than fit, pockets are good space wise and are sealed. The chest pocket is a nice touch and big enough for my phone/ a Clif bar. In terms of breathability I have yet to try it on a wet 55 degree jog, but it's leaps and bounds over my old Precip just wearing it around.
