TNF Speaker Series Mark SynottAdventure climber and The North Face Athlete Team member Mark Synnott will come to St. Louis as part of the 2010 Never Stop Exploring Speaker Series. The live nationwide 29-city tour invites adventure fans from across the country to share in the incredible tales of seven top professionals from The North Face Global Athlete Team.

This year, the tour boasts its most thrilling lineup yet, with more athletes and more tour stops. Mark Synnott will share his mission in life to climb the world's biggest and most remote big walls with St. Louis residents on Thursday, October 7.  In “Life on the Vertical,” presented by The North Face and Alpine Shop, Mark will discuss how his approach to climbing and the risks he’s willing to take has changed with age and how he’s constantly challenged to balance his life as a professional climber and adventurer with his role as a husband and father.

Mark Synnott always knew he wanted to climb, but it wasn’t until an ascent in 1996 that he knew he wanted to climb some of the biggest walls on the planet. After spending 39 days living on the side of the 4,700-foot north face of Polar Sun Spire – a rock tower rising from a frozen fjord in Canada’s Baffin Island – Mark set out on a quest that has brought him to locations as diverse as the Karakoram mountain range in the greater Himalaya region and the jungles of Amazon and Borneo.

Attendees will get to hear the story first-hand at Mark’s presentation, which will take place at the Highland Brewing Company (105 E. Jefferson, Kirkwood, Mo.) beginning at 7 pm, preceded by a 6 pm VIP reception in benefit of the Sierra Club’s Inner City Outing Program.

Tickets for the event are available for free on a first come first serve basis at www.thenorthface.com/speakerseries. Guaranteed seats are available starting at $8.00 at the same site.  VIP Reception tickets, which include preferred seating, a meet & greet with Mark, beer, wine and light food, are available for $20.00.  Following the presentation, there will be an interactive question-and-answer session and a book/poster signing.
