Marmot Limelight 3 Backpacking Tent
This tent quickly became my go to tent for any and every trip that I take. I purchased it at the Alpine Shop for a very reasonable price, and I am very happy that I did so. I have taken it on many different trip such as canoeing, bicycle touring, overnight car camping, and even large group multi-day trips.
I have never been a fan of “backpacking” tents until I found this one. Many of the backpacking tents that I have used in the past have been either difficult to set up or too cramped to use for anything other than a trip that I was extremely tight on space and weight. This tent is roomy enough for two people and sets up like a breeze.
Although you cannot stand up inside the tent by any stretch of the imagination it is easy to kneel or sit without any difficulty. The interior of the tent has just enough room for two people to sleep comfortably and keep the essentials inside with them. The included vestibule has more than enough room to house two backpacks or most other personal gear that one might carry with them.
What makes the tent so easy to set up has to be the method that Marmot uses to attach the tent body to the poles. They use clips that can easily be attached or unattached with one hand. The first time that I set this tent up was in the dark and I had no issues whatsoever. Also the fact that there is no absolute need to put more than five stakes into the ground makes it a speedy set up. This has always been important to me simply due to the fact that the part of camping that I dislike the most is setting up and breaking down the tent.
